# Design Backlog — net-new screens awaiting design

> Screens and UI components surfaced as **Must-have (or Nice-to-have) gaps by `spec-researcher`** that have **no coverage in the current prototype** (prototype location per `CLAUDE.md`) — they require a design pass before reconstruction can proceed.
>
> **Single writer (Law 3):** only the orchestrator edits this board (at a sweep's Checkpoint 1, via `/design-help`, or when `/design-build` · `/promote-design` flip statuses).
> **Distinct from the reconstruction backlog:** that tracks screens with an existing prototype source; this board tracks items with *no prototype source at all*.
> **Companion board:** every `☐` row gets a ready-to-send brief in `DESIGN_PROMPTS.md` (authored by the `design-prompt-authoring` skill) — briefs live there, never duplicated here.

## Lifecycle

`☐ Needs Design` → `◐ In Design (in-repo | console)` → `✅ Designed (in-repo | console, <screen-file>)` → `✅ Reconstructed (<route>, <date>)`

## Lane routing (per `CLAUDE.md`'s lane-routing rule)

- **In-repo lane** (`/design-build` → `design-builder`): scaffold-conforming rows with existing reference screens and no exploratory iteration — the default; provenance recorded at birth, no drift sweep ever needed.
- **Console lane** (design tool → `/promote-design`): novel visual patterns, a new module's first screens, or any row where a human wants interactive canvas iteration. Batch per module-session; ingest the delivery atomically with `/promote-design`.

## Board

> Row contract: **ID** sequential per the project's scheme (e.g. `DB-001`) · **Severity** `Must-have | Nice-to-have` · **Notes** carries the structured fields the brief is built from — scaffold, inbound seam (the upstream CTA that dead-ends here), entity + key fields, primary CTA → destination, guarded CTAs, `BR-*` list, reference screens, competitive analog.

| ID | Module | Screen / Feature | Source sweep | Severity | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| | | | | | | |

## § Pending prompts

Ready-to-send briefs for the rows above live in [`DESIGN_PROMPTS.md`](DESIGN_PROMPTS.md) (one brief per `☐` row; Global preamble prepended once).
